My experiences using MS Word!
My experiences using MS word as a student started around 6th grade once my school got laptops for every student. I honestly prefer MS word over any other word processing software. If I were to pick a different favorite word processing software, Google Docs would a solid runner-up because I feel that it doesn't outdo MS Word in any aspect. I prefer MS word because I love how customizable and adaptable it is to every person and situation. I am actually certified in MS Word, Excel, and Powerpoint.
The ISTE standard that stood out the most to me is the Citizen. The citizen focuses on creating a positive impact within the students to contribute and be responsible within the digital world. I feel as if this is important because the digital world can be an extremely toxic and dangerous place. I feel that once students build that personal connection with the teacher and are developed into safe students on the internet it is more influential than them being told- children imitate not listen.
I also have to agree with the label "digital native" for today's youth. In today's generation of kids grew up surrounded by technology, often knowing more than the adults around them. Simple differences between "digital natives" and "digital immigrants", it seems that the natives tend to use technology for nearly everything and the immigrants seem to use technology for a certain level of things, and only explore outward when it's a requirement. In terms of differences that I anticipate between me and my future students for the usage of technology, I hope to open their minds and spark their curiosity, I feel like we use technology for knowledge less than we do entertainment. I hope to spark a natural love for curiosity and the endless amount of knowledge on the internet- because it truly can be an entertaining yet educational place.
